Italian term to translate coffee. If you are at home you can have your coffee made by the traditional Italian Caffettiera, but if you are in a bar you might want to try these different versions:
Espresso: the traditional Italian short coffee in a small cup.
Corretto: with a drop of Grappa or any other alcoholic beverage.
Doppio: double the size of a regular espresso.
Lungo: an espresso with more water, but still in a small cup.
Macchiato: with a dab of frothed milk on top.
Ristretto: a very very short coffee, just a shot.
Decaffeinato: without caffeine, decaffeinated, decaf.
You also might want to order:
Cappuccino: never after lunch or after dinner.
Latte: a simple glass of milk (you have to specify if you prefer it cold or warm).
Latte macchiato: a glass of frothed milk stained by a shot of coffee.
