The Italian term caffettiera indicates a stove-top coffee maker created in 1933 by Alfonso Bialetti. The model was named Moka Express.
Because of the popularity of the moka, the term has become commonly used to indicate the caffettiera.
The name derives from Mocha, a city in Yemen overlooking the Red Sea. The area is renowned for its cultivation of Arabica coffee beans
