The Louvre is the largest museum of art in the world and the most visited museum in the world. The Louvre Museum is located in the center of Paris, France.
Louvre is often a very difficult word for English speakers to pronounce because it features the -vre ending that isn't usually present in the English language. As a consequence, people often pronounce Louvre as Loov, Loo-ver, Loov-rah. None of these pronunciations hold true. The closest correct phonetic pronunciation in French is Loov-ruh. If you listen to the audio, you will also hear an additional characteristic: the French "R" or gargled "R" that is pronounced when saying the "R" in Loov-ruh and the throat is mostly closed while pronouncing the -uh sound. But for non-Native speakers, Loov-ruh in itself is still quite a good pronunciation.
