Omicron is a Greek vowel. It is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet, written όμικρον, to be precise. The word omicron has entered the global lexicon as the name of the new variant of Covid-19, but no one seems to pronounce it right: ah-muh-kraan and oh-my-kraan are just a couple of ways to mispronounce the word.
In modern Greek, the pronunciation of omicron is oh-me-kron: the vowel o in oh and kron is pronounced as the o in Lebanon and me is pronounced as the pronoun me. The stress is on the first syllable.
