Joachim du Bellay was a French poet, humanist, and literary critic. Along with Pierre de Ronsard, he was one of the founders of La Pléiade, the first French literary school established with the aim of reforming the French language and literature.
Joachim du Bellay can be pronounced approximately in two ways: jo-ah-KEEM doo beh-LEH (the letter J has the same sound as in bonjour) and jo-ah-SHEM doo beh-LEH (the letter J has the same sound as in bonjour).
