William Faulkner - American writer and screenwriter, born William Cuthbert Falkner. His last name went from Falkner to Faulkner in 1818 when an error occurred in printing his first book. When he was asked if he wanted his book to be reprinted, he apparently answered that either way would suit him. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949 and twice the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He wrote The Sound and the Fury and Light in August
