  • Louis Vuitton - Louis Vuitton was French fashion designer and businessman. He was the founder of the Louis Vuitton luxury brand now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). The brand is officially called Louis Vuitton Malletier, but is known as Louis Vuitton. Malletier means trunk-maker or manufacturer of luggage in French, in virtue of Louis Vuitton's core business as maker of luxury trunks and bags. The Louis Vuitton brand also produces other luxury leather goods, alongside accessories, watches, shoes, jewellery and clothing.
The correct pronunciation of Louis Vuitton in French can be phonetically transcribed as Loo-ee Vwee-tohn. The most common mistake heard when English speakers pronounce Louis Vuitton is when the speaker pronounces Vuitton, often saying Vee-tohn, omitting the "Vui" sound. The "Vui" sound corresponds to the sound of the word "wee" with a "V" before it. The second half, transcribed as "tohn", contains a rather open "O", like the word "ohm" and a nasal "N" that has a short sound and seems like it's barely pronounced.
