Hearing problem which gives the perception of hearing noises such as a ringing or buzzing in the ears.
It is often reported that the correct pronunciation of tinnitus can either be Ti-nuh-tus, usually in British English or Ti-nye-tus, in American English. The word tinnitus derives from the latin, tinnire, which means to ring.
Given that the word emerged in British medical research in the early 19th century the correct pronunciation could be deemed as Ti-nuh-tus, as heard in the audio file. However, because of the now widespread usage of Ti-nye-tus among medical professionals in the US, both have become acceptable.
