Pandemic

A pandemic is widespread outbreak of a disease. A pandemic is declared once an epidemic reaches a wider portion of the population in a larger geographical area.
The most recent pandemic declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) is the most recent Coronavirus outbreak known as SARS-CoV-2, which causes the respiratory illness known as COVID-19.
The word pandemic originally derives from Ancient Greek where pan means "all" and -demic derives from demos, meaning "the people". This together means "pertaining to or affecting all the people".
The correct pronunciation of pandemic in English is Pan-deh-mick. The "e" in -deh is pronounced with an open and soft "e", rather than pronouncing it with a closed "ee" sound.
